Greetings diesel nuts, this is a first for me on this site.Might as well get started.
Why do people think the 6.2l is a 5.7l conversion, when it was built from the ground up by gmc/detroit ?My 6.2 has the detroit diesel sign on the intake as part of the casting..Just looking for chaps to chat with that know their 6.2l like I do. I have a 83 k25oo 3quarter reg cab 6.2l that has been driven everyday for 10.5 years and has just over half a million km's on it. At 420000km the head gaskets went and I also installed a timing chain, new marine injectors from Vancover and a rebuilt pump that was advanced several degrees. On many occasions I have left turbo 6.5l and even some 7.3l crying at the red light.Getting 26mpg always leaves me laughing at the chump who wanders from fill station to fill station.Yep,they dont have the power of the big bores but so easy to work on and dont require a second job to pay for parts..With front and rear lockers,it has left many jacked up pavement bitches crying in the muck..I have had such an awesome roll with this truck and have not experienced the majority of BAD 6.2L CRAP that the local schmucks told me would happen..So whats up,how long will OLDRED run for? What is the 6.2l km/mile record..?Does any one have a 6.2l tattoo? Anyone? Why does sitting in a new truck make me sick?Looking forward to hearing some 'ol irontight storys.. DETROITDON out...........
